hi sleep thread surfers. again!
my ds was doing just fine, sleeping through from 7 to 6 or 6.30 on a good day. he recently dropped morning nap, and managed to go quite easily to the midday one. but last two weeks or so he's been a nightmare at night, waking a few times a night, and getting up 5.30ish. this has coincided with his unwelcome return to the morning nap! i don't put him down for one, he just steals one in the buggy when he can.
is this whats playing havoc with his nights? or is it something else?
we were away new year somewhere new and also away boxing day somewhere fairly familiar, but i guess it could be upheaval?
or should i try and force him not to morning nap? he didn't have one today so fingers crossed for a decent night sleep...
i just want someone to say: oh yes, this happened to me, don't worry it will end soon!!

my 15 month ds's sleep is a bit all over the place too but he has had 4 pre-molars through at the same time, a bad cough, D&V bug, etc so there has always been something going on. If he wakes in the night I leave him for a wee while to see if he settles himself - if he gets louder/the noise persists then I try to settle him with a quick cuddle, switch his music box back on and then leave again. If he wakes early I also try to leave him for as long as possible (not screaming but if he is just moaning, babbling, etc then I know he is not too distressed).

I would say it has probably been the change in routine over xmas/new year that has brought about the changes and things will improve if you try to get back to normal e.g. nap and everything else at their usual times. Just keep telling yourself it is a phase!! (my 4 year old is a fab sleeper)
