7 month old - soothing self to sleep vs contact naps

Hi everyone,

My DD is 7 months old (8 months next week) and since the weekend we have been trying to teach her to self-settle in her cot for naps and at bedtime. It is going pretty well and we are pleased that she’s got a roomy cot rather than her crib (she was rapidly outgrowing it, as you can imagine!) to sleep in - however, during the days before we began doing this, I either used to rock her to sleep or contact nap her; I’m just wondering if everyone thinks it’s too optimistic of me to think I’d be able to maybe give her one contact nap per day still (purely for the cuddles) and the rest let her settle herself in her cot?! Would this just confuse her?! Thank you in advance Smile

On the occasions, my lo needs an emergency nap, so to speak, and I'm at someone's house, I do a contact nap. I do find that bedtime is a little more difficult that night almost likes; she's expecting the same as the nap.

I would try and see if lo is OK adapting back and forth. If it does impact lo, then you might have to decide what you prefer x

Mine is 7 months old too and she naps in her cot for her morning and lunchtime nap and then on me for her third nap. Never had any issues Smile

I loved my child napping on me. It honestly "goes so fast" and these are the moments you miss. Dont give it up (remembers post mikk dreamy cuddles whistfully.)
