My son is 3months today, his sleep has got progressively worse as he has got older, a month ago he was sleeping 7-7 with one feed at 4am, now we are lucky to get him down at 8 and he will wake at 5am every morning. He has cmpa so that does make him cranky and his milk isn't as filling but he eats very well. We swaddle him and always have because he is a notorious arm waver and he will smack himself in the face a lot, but when he wakes at 5am he seems frustrated and wants out of the swaddle. He is very bipolar with his dummy, isn't usually bothered about it unless he wakes up in the early hours, then he really wants it but will also keep spitting it out.

Currently he will have a 6oz bottle at 7pm go down around 8, sleep until 10/11 when we go up to bed and give him a dream feed of which he finishes 5/6oz usually. He will then usually wake at 1, need re-settling, then he will wake at about 2.30 hungry, so we feed 6oz, then he will sleep again until 5, but this is only 2.5 hours and he is not seeming like he is waking with hunger, he will cry and moan and if you try to re-settle him in his cot he will sleep for 10mins and wake again and he can do this 8/9 times! If I get him into bed with me he will either protest and cry until I give up and get him up or sometimes he will drift in and out of sleep with lots of fussing and spitting his dummy out.

Daytime naps have also got really rubbish. I have to sit and rock him in a bouncer to get him to sleep, which means I am glued to him and can't get anything done. Quite often he will wake when I stop rocking.

I don't know what to do. I need to get a decent nights sleep soon or I think I'll lose my mind. I also have a 4yo and my tiredness is making me so snappy with him.

Is this your only/first child? Because honestly, I've got four and you are flapping over nothing there. If you are feeling rushed like you have no option but to 'get stuff done' while baby is napping, then it's your time management and unrealistic standards that need altering, not baby. Do your stuff while baby is awake and playing under the baby gym (or whatever). Or reevaluate the urgency of such stuff that needs doing. When my firstborn was a baby, I watched the entire 7 seasons of Buffy The Vampire Slayer while she was napping.

As for sleep - daytime naps in the bouncer are easiest. Park yourself on the sofa with the TV remote and a cuppa and bounce with your feet.

Make daytime naps frequent - as an approximation baby's wake window wants to be around double nap length. So after a 30 minute nap, baby should be back in the bouncer for the next nap 60 minutes after waking.

Give a full feed in every wake window too. Frequent feeds is the easiest way to get more calories into baby, as opposed to bigger feeds.

At night, be consistent with dummy use - use it every wake up. Also, reset your expectations. You will get frequent wakes at this age, sleep isn't a linear progression. If you can settle baby without needing to win - call that a win (rather than considering it a problem because you had a wake up - it's about reframing these things)

In the same boat Bubba has been a bad sleeper from when he was 2 weeks 3 days. Before that I could put him dowm awake and he would nod off alone and sleep 3 hour stretches at night consistently. But hw suffered with silent reflux and colic and is just now a fussy sensitive high needs baby. Nearly 4 months - next week and past 2weeks been worse. Contact naps most of the time and night time he wakes 5-6 times and fights and screams all gis sleeps.
