DS is 3 1/2 months, and has alwasy been a great sleeper, going from 7.30 pm until about 6am since he was about 7 weeks old. he started teething early and disrupted his sleep but after a week i got him back sleeping through really happily. he's recently been ill with bad bronchiolitis and a stinking cold but is 1000% better now. When he was ill he slept with me as he couldn;t sleep on his back so i cradled him on his side.
Now he's back in his cot and he just can't sleep, he woke every hour last night - he tries to get back to sleep but just can't for more than an hour and i have to stroke his tummy and comfort him, he doesn't want food until about 5am. i think it's a combination of having been ill and being cuddled a lot and also teething. He seems to get upset by the excess saliva when he ahs to swallow it, he almost panics himself awake.
He loves his sleep so he would love to be sleeping through again. Should i give him a dose of calpol when he goes to bed tonight to see if that helps, or just stick it out and comfort him when he needs it?
i've got teething powders but am unsure how to administer.
any reassurance gratefully received!
S

am using teething powders and tried some calpol last night - not sure if either worked. He woke at 10.30 and 12.45 - both times he went back to sleep with a quick tummy pat. Then he woke at 2am and just couldn't go back to sleep although seemingly wanted to. Took him in with me eventually and he slept until 6am, had a quick feed and slept until 8.30. Albeit very fitfully and not very restfully for me. Hmmn. Think i need to persevere a bit. One of the problems is that his thumb he sucks is sore from gnawing on it due to teething. So am trying to keep hands out of mouth during the day so he feels like sucking his thumb.
Have a feeling i ahve many more sleepless nights to come.....
