4 Year Old Awake for 2 hrs in the night every night

My 4 year old wakes every night at 3am and is awake for 2 hrs. There does not seem to be anything my husband or I can do to settle him once hes awake. Hes not upset or distressed when awake and most the time he doesnt event come in to my hubby and I.

He is totally exhausted the next day though and struggles to function.

Anyone had a similar experience and have any suggestions for how to break this habit?

I presume you've already thought about things like bed times, drinks before bed etc.

One of mine frequently wakes during the night, not fir 2 hours though. In the past he used to have, i think, a form of sleepwalking/ night terrors- be awake but not awake . Talking but not making sense etc, wouldn't respond to you . Sometimes upset, other times just awake but not 'present'. It sort of petered out

He still wakes ip during the night; Its less and less frequently now but usually it is less likely to happen if he is physically tired- ie the days there has been a lot of PE, plus sport after school etc. on more sedentary days he is more likely to wake up.

My ds was like this. Never wanted anything. He did eventually grow out of it. I think in our case it was related to sensory issues. Weighted blanket helped
