Clingy 1-year old and night waking

My ds has not been strong on sleeping through but we were getting there. Now he's gotten very clingy during the day, and at night this is impacting him as he's waking and needing us/unable to settle as easily. Last night he was up for almost 2 hours which is very unusual, and I really don't want to get back to breastfeeding at night again but in the end that was the only thing to work. Any ideas or lessons learned from your experiences? How long does this last?

It is common to get more unsettled at about 13 months (growth spurt time). DS is 14 months and was a even worse than usual a couple of months ago. I'm still feeding at night, though, so didn;t change anything. Could you ride with it for a week or two and see if it settles down?
