Sleep bag/ grobag for new born

Just looking for some advice regarding my new borns sleeping. She is just over 1 week old and sleeps in a bedside crib next to me at night. I use a blanket to cover her with and tuck it in however she seems to kick her legs and wriggle out of it every night. She also curls her legs up and ends up turning on her side.
I was just wondering whether she is too small for a sleep bag? She was only 5lb 13. Or an alternative been those 'grobags'?
If I did use one of those, what would I dress her in? At the moment she wears a vest and baby grow at night.

Thanks in advance x

Congratulations.

If you go onto gro.co.uk site they have a helpful guide and chart. It depends on baby age, weight and room temperature and tog.

We have quite a cold house so mine were in short sleeve vest, sleeping bag and 2.5 tog all winter. Friends have warmer houses so needed a lighter tog or less layers.

So I suppose the answer is there is no exact answer! But there are lots of options and help on that page to keep you right.

I used sleeping bags from day 1 with my two (both over 9lbs though) and they were great. I had winter babies so keeping them in a sleeping bag really helped with night feeds.

Congratulations! My DD was same weight as yours and a blanket wriggler. The main issue with sleeping bags was the head hole was too big and she could've wiggled down even though she had a 98th centile head! The Tommee tipper ones were the only ones we could use. Here's an example but you'll want to get an appropriate tog rating! www.tommeetippee.com/en-gb/product/the-original-grobag-cat-and-mouse-easy-swaddle-0-3-months-uk

I used a Grosnug for mine in the early weeks. They are made by the Gro company and are a sort of cross between a swaddle and a sleeping bag. They can be used from 5lb upwards and the company website has a guide to what to dress your baby in according to room temperature.

Congrats on your new small person. We had a dinky dot of a child born in winter and we used grosnug sleep bags. They were perfect, if I remember they were from 5lb plus they made the change to using gro bags really easy.

We had a dinky baby. The snuz sleeping bags have poppers on the side to make them a bit more snug for the littler babies. Helped us, also meant we didnt have to buy hundreds.

I remember bringing her home from the hospital and having to buy a load of stuff because everything was too big!
