DS1 has been an early waker since he was 2.6. I think he's got better since starting school and often goes until 6.30am or on a rare occasion even 6.45am.

He is unfortunately going through a phase of 5.30/5.45 waking. DH just can't deal with it and ends up really losing his rag with DS when he won't go back to sleep. He seems to think that ours is the only early waker out there - please share your stories so that i can show him them all!!

Thanks

Ds1 has just turned 4 and has been through phases of this (and we're probably not done yet!). Find it much easier to deal with in the winter months. I take him back to his room and offer him a mug of milk, re-find his teddy and tuck him in and leave. Hardly talk to him at all. All lights stay off. Then repeat without the milk either until he gives up or until 7 am.
If he wakes his brother, his brother gets a shush pat and his music turned on, repeated until he gives up or until 7 am. That's when ds1 really knows he's on a hiding to nowhere!
Is there a link to not wearing him out enough the day before do you think?

There's certainly a link Helly! It's a viscious circle as yesterday he was so shattered that he fell asleep in the car for an hour and a half then of course woke up early this morning. When it's poor weather I know we end up spending too much time indoors!

Mide are both early wakers. Story cds are our saviours - ds regularly wakes up at about 5.30 and puts his cd on.
