My DD goes to sleep sometimes on the breast. I usually flick her off it and lie her down in her cot and rub her back to sleep. Tonight she was so tierd that she fell asleep and i couldn't wake her back up.
So can i still do controlled crying?

Both my children fell asleep on the breast and I never did cc with them. I tried it once with dc1 but she was just too distressed.
I think if you want to do cc you cannot let them fall asleep on the breast, and I couldn't stop them.
Are you having trouble with her sleep?
TBH, my dc1 didn't sleep through until I stopped bf (18 months), but my dc2 slept well even after falling asleep on it......How old is she?

She is 8 months and yeah she has trouble sleeping. She just woke up befor so let her cry for few minutes then it only took 5 mins for her to fall asleep on her own! I stood by the cot and tucked her back in then said sleepy sleepy and she was out after a little cry. It's heart breaking and I dont think I would have the strengh to last through the night but recently she has waking up at 5am and just wanted to suck on my boobs for an hour!!!I fall asleep too but then she wakes up again wanting to use my boob as a dummy. Had enough. Was co- sleeping for 6 months now she comes in with me on her second or third waking 4.30-5ish. So heard CC is good for teaching them to sleep. I want to be in control not her so think I have to change things big time.
I know they are crying becuse they are tired and dont know how to sleep on there own.

hi hayleybopper,

it worked for me the cc thing had 7 hours sleep last night!!I feel more tired now though.

hayleybop · 20/11/2007 21:17

Good to hear it worked, Dont want to go on anymore with night wakings, How old was your baby?
Your probs more tired now as your catching up on sleep and your body hasn't adapted to lots of sleep.
My body has adapted to having 2-3 hour stretches of sleep but just want my life back and to be in control of it.

elizabeth pantleys' 'no-cry sleep solution' worked well for us has lots about this.

Phraedd · 22/11/2007 13:21

moopymoo what does that involve?

TheQueenOfQuotes · 22/11/2007 13:23

I've got 3 DS's, the only one I used CC with was my DS1 - who was BF (to sleep) and co-slept with us for 6 months.

wanna join me hayleybop in the stress of it all? dd2 is now 8 months and is just like yours. i have bf her to sleep since birth, she stirs when i put her down but i give her a dummy and she goes off again if she isn't too awake. but she's waking lots and giving the dummy isnt enough, its the boob she wants! i started cc last night. dh gave her a bedtime bottle for a change, to lose the boob association. (sad isn't it). she cried for about 40 mins then slept til 12, i fed her (right?) and woke again at 5am. two 5 hours stretches is great for her. will be going through the hell again tonight.

on the other hand i have a 3 year old that wont let me leave her bedroom so have to sort both. its the quickest way with the baby and means i can sit with dd1. sigh....whilst sloely retreating from the room over a series of nights.

oh and dh is away for a week from tomorrow.

sigh again
