Putting baby in own room tips

When did your baby go into their own room for the first time? My 4.5 month old sleeps through the night 99% of the time and outgrowing his basket in our bedroom. Is this too soon to move him into his cot in his own room?

Does anyone have any tips for starting the process? X

I started spending half an hour or so just playing in the room during the day.. Get dc used to being in the actual room for starters...

The NHS advise not before 6 months old, due to the increased SIDS risks when sleeping alone.

You could try moving him into his cot and sleeping on a bed or mattress in the same room. Then when you move back to your room the transition should be easier as baby is used to his environment. Hope it goes well.

Advice is 6montha but up to you and what you feel comfortable with. First baby went in just after 6 months. We just did it not tips or tricks. She was fine.

Second baby got naps in the cot so got used to it. Tried to put her in her cot in her own room at night but she spent most of the night in my bed, that wasn't a new thing though. Finally got her out my bed and in to her own room about 9 months. She actually slept a lot better on her own in her own room.
