8 month old stopped settling for night sleep

Just wondered if anyone had similar or has any advice. My 8 month old is not a good sleeper anyway however my husband would read to him and he would fall asleep at night for bedtime. However now he’s just started lying in his cot for his story and then after a few minutes he’ll start crying and won’t go to sleep. Is he not tired enough?

His naps are around
9am for 1 hour
12:30pm for 30 mins
3pm for 30mins/1 hour
Bedtime at 7pm

I'd try and extend the lunchtime nap to a longer one and drop the later nap. Do you think he'd sleep for longer at lunchtime?

3pm is a bit too close to bedtime for a nap.

@Covidwoes @WildWestWanda I could try a longer lunch nap but it usually isn’t as long as his morning one. Do you know how long they should be awake for in between naps and what time ideally they should be awake by for 7pm bedtime? He is usually quite tired

Agree to drop the 3rd nap. At 8 months I was doing naps at 9:15/9:30 ish and 1/1:30ish. Then as she got older I pushed the naps back and she now naps at 9:30 and 2/2:30.

Could try the 2/3/4 routine, 2 hours awake before 1st nap, 3 hours awake from end of last nap to 2nd nap and then 4 hours awake from last nap to bedtime.
