20 Month Old Going Berserk at Bedtime

Hi

My DS will be 20 months soon. He always went down at 7 and slept until 7. The last few weeks come 7 he gets what I can only describe as a second wind. Its like he knows bedtime is coming and starts to play up - completely hyper, throws himself around and thrashes around cot. Eventually goes asleep an hour later.

We have tried just keeping him up but even at that when it comes to bed time the same thing happens.

Iv reduced his nap from 2 hrs to 1.5 but isn't helping.

Is he ready to cut out day time nap? Is this an extra long regression? Should I just keep him
up?

Help!

If he gets his second wind at 7pm, could you put him to bed at 6pm. Often being over tired shows itself as being hyper and not able to calm down in a toddler

He naps in nursery from 12:30 - 2 so that would mean theres only 4 hours awake time.

Over tiredness did cross my mind but because it started so suddenly I assumed the 18 month regression. Its just going on a bit long now though to be that!
