How to transition a 6 month old from pram to cot

Hi all

We currently have to rock our 6 month old in the pram for at least 10 minutes in order for him to have a nap.

Of course this isn't ideal and we would like to be able to get him down in his crib.

Does anyone have any tips on how to transition them? As he only starts to drift off to sleep when rocked.

Thank you Smile

How does he go to sleep at night?

For daytime naps, be deliberate about slowing down how much you move the pram. Also, slow and stop moving as soon as baby is calm/quiet, before going to sleep. Restart is baby fusses but always slow and stop as soon as not fussing.

I tried and failed to get either of mine to sleep in a cot during the day (ever!)
Do you need to? It didn’t make a lot of difference to me as mine only napped for 30-40 minutes

Night time - He usually gets fed on our bed in the dark with a night light and womb sounds. He falls asleep and we move him into the sleepyhead after say 15 minutes to ensure he's asleep.

He doesn't fall asleep whilst having his bottle in the day time only as I say if rocked in the pram which takes a while!

We could keep doing it but it just takes a lot of time and it's not great for the back!
