What age did your baby nap for longer than 30 mins in their crib?

Baby has always done 30 mins in crib then remainder in my arms. Just wondering when I can expect a magical change to long naps in the crib?

About 7 months my baby learned to connect sleep cycles!

Springingintospring · 23/03/2021 20:28

About 8 months I think?
At about a year they went to one nap a day for 2 hours, it was great.

Findahouse21 · 23/03/2021 20:28

11 months

sleepslikeababy · 23/03/2021 20:40

6 months on and off, 8 months reliably almost every nap.

Keha · 23/03/2021 22:03

8 or 9 months. We didn't do anything, it just happened.

Seekingadviceplz · 24/03/2021 09:51

Yeh think mine was about 7 or 8 months. I know you hear all sorts of tips to make your baby nap longer but I dont think any of them work, they just need time and it seems to develop naturally.

SquigglePigs · 24/03/2021 10:37

As you can see from the other responses many babies do but just to provide the other side - my 2yr old still doesn't really. Occasionally she'll do 1.5hrs but usually an hr is an achievement. She'll generally have another 40mins on me afterwards. At nursery she usually does about 50 mins.

OhToBeASeahorse · 25/03/2021 14:19

Are all your babies falling alseep alone? Mine is 5 months and still sleeping in the sling on me

sleepslikeababy · 25/03/2021 19:00

@OhToBeASeahorse No! He falls asleep (by himself) in my arms and then is put down in his cot. At 5 months he was also on me or in the sling. If he wakes up in the night he can sometimes put himself back to sleep, sometimes he needs help though.

OhToBeASeahorse · 25/03/2021 19:02

@sleepslikeababy that's encouraging. We are in sleep hell at the moment

edgeware · 25/03/2021 19:04

6 months now and then, more reliably from 18months on.

kowari · 25/03/2021 19:05

Never. Outgrew bassinette at 4 months then slept on my bed. Had longer naps when he dropped to two naps at about 6 months.

kowari · 25/03/2021 19:07

Did sleep in the stretchy wrap for a decent length of time as a young baby but only short naps lying down.

JaniceBattersby · 25/03/2021 19:07

I have four kids. Not a single one of them had a nap anywhere but on me for at least 18 months. I tried but every time I put them down they woke up screaming so I gave up in the end and enjoyed sitting on my arse.

SecondBabyGirl · 25/03/2021 19:07

It is often linked with becoming mobile. My DD has a gross motor delay so didn’t start doing a long cot nap until she started crawling at 15 months.

sleepslikeababy · 25/03/2021 19:58

@SecondBabyGirl that’s interesting cause mine is an early mover. Crawled just shy of 6 months. Maybe that’s why he suddenly decided he’d sleep in his cot and for longer stretches? Certainly had nothing to do with me or anything I did 🙈

@OhToBeASeahorse mine was a terrible sleeper. I’m talking waking every 45 mins for months. Again, I didn’t do anything. He just got better. I hope that gives you some hope anyway! I know it’s hellish 😩

Keha · 26/03/2021 22:21

@OhToBeASeahorse my little girl is 13 months and doesn't fall asleep on her own, we rock/pat/feed to sleep in our arms and put her in the cot. She then sleeps 1 - 2 hours. At 5 months she would have woken after 20 -30 mins in the cot so I generally didn't bother putting her down but just held or, used the sling. We just kept trying every now and again with the cot and about 8 - 9 months the naps got longer.
