There seem to be a few posts recently on sleepp problems at these ages: this is a useful description of common sleep regressions:

moxie.blogs.com/askmoxie/2006/02/qa_what_are_sle.html

the conclusion seems to be

  • it's normal
  • it won't last for ever (honest)
  • do what you can to get through

So basically I just have to live with the 3am playtime? Damn you woman...

EffiePerine · 05/11/2007 14:13

nono IT GETS BETTER. Really it does. It's so easy to think a) your baby is a complete freak because every other baby you know is sleeping through and b) this will last for ever. It doesn't

I'll take your word for it now, but be warned I'll be back in a couple of months if he hasn't dropped our night-time playdate

nappyaddict · 05/11/2007 14:30

so why is my 16 month old doing it?

EffiePerine · 06/11/2007 09:04

it doesn't stop after a year, it seems!

hmmm according to that it should be over by 18 months. we'll see.

Jacksmybaby · 06/11/2007 20:30

This has reassured me a bit about my 9mo - going through the crawling, pulling up and teething stages all at once and we have one knackered grumpy baby with one knackered grumpy mummy!

MrsJohnCusack · 06/11/2007 21:23

well it has made me feel a bit better about my just about to be 8 month old so thanks

but not quite as much as a decent sleep would...

Jacksmybaby · 07/11/2007 12:41

With you there, MrsJC!

mazmack · 07/11/2007 17:17

I hope thats the reason I just had to post about my 12/13 month DD not napping!

EffiePerine · 08/11/2007 10:53

The 8/9 month period was awful for us. Just when we'd got used to the occasional longer stretch DS was waking all the time again.

was just about to post asking why my 9mo has been waking 3 times a night for the last 6 weeks after sleeping 12 hrs a night for the previous 5 months!

Julezboo · 08/11/2007 11:25

but what if your too tired to read the link !!

He is not sleeping day or night for longer that 15/20 mins

EffiePerine · 08/11/2007 12:42
