5 month old making gasping noises in her sleep

My DD who is just over 5 months has started waking me up during the night breathing in what I can only describe as little gasps, sometimes a few quick ones together and then one gasp and a long pause. This can go on for some time and I generally pick her up out of her cot, thus waking her and ending up feeding her. Most nights she will sleep through from 7-7. I remember my DS doing this, probably a little bit older than her and at the time put it down to wind.

DD was making these noises early this morning and when I looked in her cot she had her eyes open but still doing it. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced similar and should I be worried? Could it perhaps be her dreaming?

Thanks in advance for any advice

Not quite the same, but DD1 was and is a ridiculously quiet sleeper, and so it's come as a bit of a shock with DD2 (7.5m) who ever since she was born has been noisy - regularly throughout the night cries out, snuffles around, sighs and all sorts... And every time you stop watching teevee, or lie in bed waiting to see if anything further occurs... and nothing. Irritating in the middle of the night though!

Even at this early stage I reckon stuff goes on in their heads which can be resolved into physical reactions?

Thanks, she is quite a noisy sleeper. It is different to her normal shuffling around and sleep noises and tbh is a little scary when it happens but hopefully it is just wind.

would take her to gp and ask to check chest? and breathing.
am sure itll just be those noises that they make to scare us but better to check it out to put your mind at rest
