Accidentally drank coffee - breastfeeding

So I didn't even ask for a decaf, I asked for a hot chocolate. I'm laughing at how stupid this is and how I didn't realise. DP ordered the new choc orange hot chocolate for me and the quality street latte for him from costa and gave me the wrong one. They give you an actual piece of chocolate orange to eat with it so I ate that first and then tasted the drink, so thought it tasted of chocolate orange and didn't question it as the latte was obviously sweet and flavoured too. I was driving also so wasn't paying too much attention to it till I got home and said I thought it tasted like coffee. By that point I had drank 3/4 of it and it was a large. I'm more impressed how DP didn't realise he was drinking an orange chocolate hot chocolate and not coffee 😂.

Anyway I'm breastfeeding my 6 week old and have only had one real coffee since he was born and that resulted in him screaming all evening that night like he had colic so I guessed the coffee was to blame. He sleeps so badly anyway and I've only had 3 hours sleep the last 2 nights so I'm dreading what it's going to do to him tonight. Other than chocolate I've pretty much avoided caffeine. I'm laughing at myself now but I'll probably be crying later 🙈🙈🙈. Just waiting for him to wake up and it to kick in now 😩.

It will be fine, I had one coffee a day when breastfeeding and so no difference.

Glad it was ok. Like others I drink as much coffee as I want - not tonnes but some - and I've been bf 2.5yrs. While pregnant there recommended limit means you can have one Costa-type coffee or two instant coffees or five cups of tea a day. So one Costa coffee is fine even if you stick with the pregnancy recommendation.

I'm breastfeeding and have at least two coffees a day. I wouldn't survive with a toddler and baby without it. My DS seems fine, not a brilliant sleeper but I'm pretty sure that's nothing to do with the coffee I drink!

@AmandaHoldensLips

Just have a nice little nip of brandy in your hot chocolate later and creep into bed with baby. You will both sleep like little tots.

Don't do this!!!!!

You shouldn't sleep in the same bed as baby, and you shouldn't ever sleep in the same bed as baby after alcohol.

That's how babies die.

Do not do this.

I also think it's a bit risky, and probably ok illegal driving with a hot drink.
