Angelcare sensor Pad with chicco next to me - Does this work

Hi. We have a next to me dream cot. And an angelcare monitor with wireless sensor pad.

I know I need to out a hard surface under the Pad but the bottom of the cot mattress is hard which would sit on top of the sensor. Does it work if you use it like that?

We used the angel care under in the snuz pod which I imagine is pretty similar. You need to put a firm, flat surface underneath it. We used a spare bit of mdf from an ikea drawer.

My sleep deprived partner forgot this step when we moved our little one to a cot in his own room and we had a few false alarms before we realised this was the issue. The last thing you need is for the alarm to go off and you go charging in and wake a perfectly fine sleeping baby!

Is the underside of the mattress hard for the snuzpod?

We used it but then every time we picked up the baby it went off, so we stopped using it! I think you can press a button to pause it before it makes a noise, but if the baby is screaming, it's the middle of the night and this is the 7th time you've got up with them, you don't always remember!

I think it’s more to do with what the sensor is sitting on than the mattress. The mattress will sit on top of the sensor, the sensor on top of the base of the cot / crib / whatever. The base of the snuz pod was a sort of mesh if I remember correctly so we needed a firmer base for it to sit on otherwise it wouldn’t work.

Sorry, just re-read your original post. I see what you mean. How hard is the base of the mattress? If it’s solid, it might block the movement going through to the sensor. Maybe you could adjust the sensitivity settings but it might be an issue.

Yes it is rock solid like a hard board on top of the sensor. Can't see it working. I have found a Snuza Hero MD clip nice and cheap 2nd hand so think will use that initially and then angelcare once moved to the main cot. X
