Sleep

When did your baby’s sleep improve for good?

My LO is 7 weeks old and seems to have settled into a good sleeping pattern at night (only wakes up to feed usually around 1am and then again around 4:30/5am). I am deeply hoping that it will get even better over time but I am not that naive and am aware of the fact that sleeps regressions exist and things can get much worse instead of improving. I was just curious to know what others have experienced. When did your DC start to sleep better at night? Are sleep regressions something every baby has to go through or is it possible not to have them?

DC 1 slept through from 12ish weeks
DC 2 slept through from 8ish weeks
DC 3 slept through from 18 months and aged almost 3 still an early riser

Talk about being lured into a false sense of security!

DS1 slept through from 14 mo / sleep was always shit (long wakings everybody 2 1/2 hrs), got better by itself around 9 months (down to 2 wakings), worse again at 12 mo, I night weaned and he was sleeping through within a fortnight.
DS 2 is nearly 18 mo and still waking at least 3 times. Was waking 2 hourly for a spell 6-7 months and improved since then, but obvs still quite rubbish!

My baby was doing the same as yours at 7 weeks. He deteriorated hugely between 6and 9 months (awake every 45 mins) until we did sleep training. Sorry to tell you you’re probably doing the easy but at the moment! Good luck

Seven weeks old is so young! Little one’s sleep ‘pattern’ will just keep evolving as she goes from baby to toddler to young child. Regressions happened with both of ours - just go with it, accept it and take every little opportunity to look after yourself too xx

My eldest (now 6) started to improve around 11months. He was always shit at sleeping.

My youngest (now 2.5) was fairly good up until 12weeks. Thought we had struck gold with one, max two wake ups. He was horrendous until about 2yrs, and he still doesn’t always sleep through now

DS1 - amazing sleeper from day one. Woke for a feed I fed him he fell asleep even cluster feeding he slept well. Not a night in bed with me when I’d finished feeding him I put hi back in his crib / cot. Aged six now he’s still a wonderful sleeper
DD - totally shit. Wouldn’t even have a bottle of expressed milk. Woke every two hours until aged 2.5 for a feed. Very difficult but made worse as I resisted co sleeping which in hindsight would have been great
DS2- is almost 3 and until about 33 months was utterly diabolical sleepers I have had one full nights sleep which was the one. Gift I’ve been away from him. Still breastfeeding like e a baby but two months ago his sleep improved. I have slept with him most every night since he was born and still do but he’s now asleep for 8 instead of midnigh

All babies are different. My first slept through the night 7pm to 7am with no night wakings from 6 months! My second not until 13 months (and we had to let him cry a little). But he literally cried once or twice in the night for a minute before falling back asleep. After 3 days he slept through and didn’t do this. My third is sleeping through from 9 months! She is 10 months and I fully breastfeed.
