I had sleep trained my baby using the cry it out method when he was about 6 months old. It worked within a week and he went from waking up every 1.5-2 hours to sleeping 5/6 hours straight and even a full 11/12 hours straight through on occasions.
However when he was around 8months old I became inconsistent on our sleeping times and arrangements for a few months due to things going on in the house at the time. Since then his sleep has gotten worse and he now wakes every 2/3 hours and won't self settle. He is now 11 months old.
I want to sleep train him again, but the problem is we share a room so if I use Cry it out or Controlled crying he will know I'm in the room and keep crying until I pay him attention. When he was younger if I covered myself with the blanket he wouldn't know I'm there but now he is aware enough to know that it's me.
He can also now stand up/walk, so he will no longer just lie there and fuss/cry till he falls asleep. He will stand up in his cot and kick/ stomp/pace/cry until I come to him. And he does this whether I am in the room or not.
So does anyone have advice on how to sleep train a baby when you share a room? And on sleep training a baby that can walk (but can't climb out of cot yet)?
P.S him having his own room isn't possible as I am a 21 year old university student living in a 2 bedroom flat with mum and can't afford my own place xx
