Any advice on how I can get my newborn to realize day and night. Sleeps all day up all night. Hates his cot and won't sleep on his back. Only likes sleeping on stomach which obviously I can't do at night when not watching him. Getting one hour sleep a night. Any advice would be appreciated. His 17 days old today

He has no idea about night and day.You can sleep in the day when he sleeps. To start changing things to a day and night routine you need ti make night quiet and dark and in the daytime keep it bright and noisier. Get him outside when possible, He will eventually get the day=light and night = dark but it might take a while. Just go with the flow right now.

You just have to go with it. Google the fourth trimester. Sleep when baby sleeps.

It can feel so hard at this stage when they don't know day and night, but your baby will get it eventually!

Make your normal noise in the day and keep it light, don't feel like you should be quiet around the baby in the day. Then at night make it dark and quiet. Do you have a softer smaller light you can turn on when he wakes in the night, rather than a bright main light?

He will get there in time x

1 week old baby who is doing the same except I think reflux is preventing him from going down at night. Just watching a lot of tv at night and trying to share sleep with OH

This is completely normal. They don't start to understand day and night until they are about 6 weeks. Definitely google 4th trimester.

My baby was exactly the same. It just took time I think around 3 months was when he started sleeping better at night instead of the day. I always have it bright and noisy in the day and dark and quiet at night.
