It's gone to pot at six months!

My 6 month old has been a great sleeper since birth really. She has never required rocking / feeding to sleep, and was doing 11 hours at night from 3 months (8:30pm - 7:30am). Not much of a set nap schedule, but she would fall asleep when she needed to and got about 3 hours each day across 2 or 3 naps. It was the absolute dream.

When I first put her into the cot, I kept her inside the Moses basket and all was fine for a couple of weeks. But since I removed the basket and put her straight into the cot, she's up at 5am every day. She won't seem to nap now either and got less than an hour in total yesterday, despite my efforts.

Is there anything I can do? We have got blackout curtains, tried white noise and patting/shhhh-ing her back to sleep but she just wants to get up and play! It's too early!

The waking early is probably due to lack of daytime sleep. I'd probably suggest she's ready for a daytime nap routine, especially if sleeping through at night.

The suggestion would 9am nap and 1pm nap, with a 4.30pm powernap if needed.

Thank you so much. I managed to get almost 2 hours out of her today, and will aim for those times tomorrow Smile

Since 6 months my little boy goes through phases of waking at 5:30, despite getting 2-3 hours of daytime sleep.

I’m having trouble with the return of the dreaded 30 min naps.... and because he’s going through a phase of 5:30 wake ups, it’s thrown our daytime routine right out of the window so I don’t know whether I’m coming or going! Lol.

These babies love to keep us on our toes and learn to never get too smug about their good sleeping habits 😆 !

I hope you find a fix for you early wakes! X

Thanks @anonnancy. You are so right about them keeping us on our toes! I've so far managed 3 naps from her today but all under 30 minutes, like you say... Off out for an hour's walk in the pram now, that usually lulls her to sleep. Good luck with your little one too! Smile

Never get too comfy until they are older lol
It sneaks up upon you

I agree with the other posts, sleep breads sleep

I try my best with my lo but she will only sleep on me most of the time.. Hence my terrible back.
I don't blame her though, she's in pain with silent reflux Confused
