ds has been waking in the night recently, between 2.30am and 3.30am. may have seen my previous threads on this, he was having sweet pot and veg for tea, then some baby rice and fruit after his bedtime bottle. Anyway, last week, dropped the baby rice, think maybe he was "too" full, and he started sleeping till at least 6am when having a danone baby yoghurt after his pot and veg, and then just bottle at 7pm. However last night he woke crying at 2.30am, and wouldn't settle back down, didn't seem in any pain, fine once picked up. offered him water which he drank 3oz of, the offered him a bit of milk as he was fussing with the water, and he only took 2oz. then was still asleep at 7.30 when i went in this morning. SO, was he hungry, thirsty, or both; he had the same food yesterday as the other days. ???

My ds did excatly the same thing for 3 days running. Had all his tea, then 8oz milk after bath, conked out and then up at 2.30 screaming hungry. He has now gone back to all through the night - I asume it was just a brief growth spurt. If your ds has a good sleep routine I would think he will slip back into it in a couple of days time. Bit of a shock having broken night again though, isn;t it!

thanks poo2 , still can't work out if he was hungry or no. he drunk the water quickly, then started messing with the teat a bit, so offered the milk just to see whether he was hungry. only took 2oz of the milk, so was he not actually hungry, but thirsty?? if hwas hungry surely he would have taken more of the milk??
