When did your little one start sleeping through the night and did they nap during the day or fight it?

An exhausted first time mum - there's so many of us 🥴

A couple of months before his 2nd birthday. Prior to that we had parties in the middle of the night every night.

He sleeps about 11h in the night and 2h or slightly longer during the day.

Rayna37 · 31/07/2020 14:16

Mine slept through almost every night from 3 months to a year. Different story from one to three though.

user1493413286 · 31/07/2020 14:19

It went in fits and starts of sleeping well then regressing; around 10-11 months she consistently slept but then started waking at 5am a few months later and every so often has a week of disrupted sleep even now at 3

Mmmmycorona · 31/07/2020 14:21

10 weeks regressed until about 14 months and has slept through ever since.

doadeer · 31/07/2020 14:21

12 months when we worked with a sleep consultant and he sleeps 2.5 hours in the day. I just pop him down in his cot it's a dream.

But it was hell for a long time

WanderingMilly · 31/07/2020 14:28

My first was utterly dreadful at sleeping, he finally slept through at 3.5 years. I staggered through it all on sleep deprivation and the night he didn't wake up I leapt into his bedroom thinking he'd died in the night!

I remember being so delighted it was just a proper sleep-filled night I told the mother and toddler group and was crestfallen to find everyone else had babies that had slept through from a few months onwards...I couldn't believe it.

summerinthecity22 · 31/07/2020 22:29

@WanderingMilly oh my goodness! 😆 That really did make me laugh..I know it's not funny at all but it just really sums up how ice felt at times! You're like "yeah! Really nailing this!!" And to find out otherwise....

Such varied responses....they are all so different. Well I'm hoping- hoping she said - to get a decent sleep soon.......

Dc1 - about 2 years
Dc2 - about 14 months
DC3 - 3 years 4 months - it was a lockdown miracle! Grin

PotteringAlong · 31/07/2020 22:32

I did nothing different with any of them by the way. Some children sleep, some don’t...

Lockdownseperation · 31/07/2020 22:33

About 2.5yr although now she is 4 she has started sneaking into bed with me and her 1 year old sister.

Drivingdownthe101 · 31/07/2020 22:33

DC1- 3.5 years
DC2- 15 months
DC3 is 18 months and has been sleeping through for about a month.

kateybeth79 · 31/07/2020 22:45

DD was 6, although she does occasionally wake in the night for more water.

funnyonion1 · 31/07/2020 22:48

DC1 around 12 months

DC2 17 months and still waiting Hmm

Summer41 · 31/07/2020 23:17

DC1 dropped his naps at 18 months and started sleeping through.
DC2 has slept through since 10 months and has an afternoon nap of around an hour.

Happyspud · 01/08/2020 07:51

All 4 of mine at 7-8 months. Incidentally all within 2 nights of moving them into their own rooms.

grissomsbugs · 01/08/2020 07:55

All three of mine slept through from 2-3 months old.

madcatladyforever · 01/08/2020 08:24

From about 8 weeks old. I think it's all just luck really. I have two sisters, I was the same, my youngest sister was like me and the middle one didn't sleep through until she was about 5.

RandomTree · 01/08/2020 08:26

DC1 - 12 months
DC2 was my good sleeper - 12 weeks
DC3 - 3 years

Qcumber · 01/08/2020 09:38

Still waiting at 4 years :( I'm so tired.

UnaOfStormhold · 01/08/2020 10:00

At the end of his first term of school (4.5). We'd night weaned about 2 and he'd given up naps about 3.

Wecandothis99 · 01/08/2020 10:37

This thread is freaking me out. Mine has slept through since 6 months and I'm due again soon, thought it was the norm but now I'm guessing it's more normal for them to not sleep so am expecting the next to be harder. Waaaaa

AngelaScandal · 01/08/2020 11:06

@Wecandothis99
DC1 - slept through from 6 weeks
DC2 - still waiting for her to sleep through at 2 years. Colour me horrified

summerinthecity22 · 01/08/2020 13:07

Oh no...I'm seeing a few 3 years ...even 4! Eek!

@summerinthecity22 I hate to break it to you but it’s considered not considered to be biologically normal for children to not need you over night until they are 7 years old.

Esmymoss · 03/08/2020 01:04

Same here 🙋🏻‍♀️ 🤪
