My ds is 10 months old and has always slept really well until we moved into our new house 2 months ago, we decided to put him in his own room and he has not slept properly since. I thought we would try putting him back in our room but it made no difference. Im starting to think it is night terrors as there is no other reason i can see for it. He is now scared to go to sleep and fights it until he totally knackers himself out but he is awake every couple of hours or so and it is blood curdling screams and then he kicks and punches me and fights for ages to go back to sleep.
I really need some help or advice or redbull.

Thanks in advance

I assume he has a good bedtime routine LMM?
How much does he nap in the day?
Does he have a night light?
Just a few questions to get a better picture...

does he sleep in the day?

If not then i would encourage it

a very over tired baby sleeps much more fretfully than one who has had a decent nap in the day - not less than 1.5 hours

He does sleep in the day, he wakes between 6-7am and he has a sleep about 11-12 for anout 3 mins then another about 3-4pm for about an hour and he sleeps in the car and buggy if we go out so he does get some sleep in the day.
He has a bedtime routine he has had the same routine since 6 weeks of bath, bottle, bed
i tried a nightlight but it made no differene

i wonder if he is gettig overtired and that is when they fight sleep
if i were you - for a few days- i would ensure he gets a good long couple of hours between 12 and 3pm

drive or push prm if necessary to keep him zonked - ensure he has eaten a lot just prior to sleep

then see if this makes a difference to night times
i would do away with night light

anither thing - do you ever leave him AWAKE but in the cot?

i think it is a good idea to make sure a baby can occupy his/her self alone in the dark - try leaving longer before picking him out in the day- put a couple of soft toys in there

thankyou for the advice im going to give it all a try, i have just spoken to my hv and she has echoed what you said notanotter about letting him fall to sleep on his own so i will try 'controlled crying' fingers crossed
