Hi!
I am having a bit of a hard time with routine/nap time/bedtime etc etc and just wondered if any of you would mind sharing your daily routines (even vague ones) with me? My LO is 10.5mths.
Thanks x

DS is 10.5 months and wakes up between 8-8.30am

Naps for around 2 hours at 11.30/12.

Has a cat nap at 5pm for 30 mins (but is mostly miserable as sin when you wake him up from that).

Bed time 8/8.30pm.

@lineandsinker thanks! Do you find just the one main nap is enough for him? When did you drop to one? X

He needs his cat nap at 5pm as he gets really miserable otherwise (dinner time is not fun on these days!). I don’t let him have longer than 30 mins but he would definitely have more if he could.

If he refuses the nap or misses it because we’re out and I’ve timed things badly, I bring his bed time forward.

I think they advise no more than 3.5 hours of awake time at this age - it moves up to 4 hours as they move past the 12 month stage.

lineandsinker · 23/07/2020 22:30

He moved to having one really long nap a couple of months ago. Some days he doesn’t have 2 hours - it can be as little as 40 mins but generally between 1 hour 40 mins and 2 hours.

roundtwist · 23/07/2020 22:32

At 10 months we did wake around 7:30am, nap 9 - 9:30, nap 12:30 - 2:30 bedtime 7pm.

DS2 is about to turn 10 months and is a horrid sleeper.

He used to solely take naps on me, but now he likes to settle himself.

Wakes for the day between 6:30 and 7. Naps for an hour at 9, sometimes longer but not often. Has a longer nap at around 12:30 straight after his lunch and sometimes a cat nap at 3 for around half an hour.

We start a bedtime routine at 7 and he's often soundo by 7:30. I feel bad because his naps are often messed up due to DS1 for various reasons - he wakes him up accidentally or DH WFH so takes DS1 in to preschool later than usual. Or DH can't do pick up so we have to walk up to get DS1.

He's finally started only wanting one bottle feed in the night, usually at 5am and then will sleep again until 7.

Thanks @roundtwist
This is what I was doing and it was working fine but suddenly he's stopped falling asleep and I can't work out why!

Thanks @BillyAndTheSillies
I have the opposite problem just now - he was self settling fine but now goes to bed and just lies awake! Trying to work out what's gone wrong to change it.
Our nap schedule actually wasn't too different from yours x

How long has he stopped settling for? Does he cry or is he happy in his cot? Has he recently started crawling/walking etc?
If it's only been a little while, I would stick with your routine and see if it's just a phase. If he's happy in his cot, I would let him have that rest time, even if he's not asleep.

Gemedin · 24/07/2020 12:14

Hi @buzzybuzzbee thanks for the reply. I think it's been about 2/2.5 weeks now. He hasn't started doing either of those but does suddenly seem more active if that makes sense! Definitely rolling around more and moving more. He is happy in the cot, doesn't cry or moan really. It's just as if he is lying awake, occasionally he will make some noise but a lot of the time he is quiet. If it wasn't for the monitor I would assume he was sleeping x
