Hi everyone.

So our baby will be starting nursery next month when she will be just one week shy of one year. I'm really dreading it because we currently have a wonderful napper. She has two naps (9.30 -11am + 3pm to 4.30pm) alone in her cot in a dark room. She has never slept well in a buggy or with people around her. She is an extremely active baby so if there is distraction around her she just won't sleep. I know that the nursery staff are very experienced and they will sort it out but I worry that she will just be overtired because she will still need two naps whereas babies in nursery will be on one nap.

So I suppose I'm just after some tips and reassurance....

What can we do to make this transition as smooth as possible?

Should we try and start transitioning to 1 nap already?

I'm just finding it cruel as she really needs 2 naps still.

Thanks everyone..

First of all, will she have to go to one nap? In our nursery they use your routine from home for babies - DD started on three naps a day.

Secondly, nursery staff are amazing and peer pressure works even at that age. I'm sure she'll be fine.

I'm sure she won't "have to" go to one nap but I think most babies in that section will already be on one nap and this being in London, they only have one room where they sleep - I think they just put mats on the floor or something like that. We haven't spoken about this in great detail so I'm going to ask. My worry is that our LO will not sleep if all the babies don't sleep at the same time. Has anyone had this problem or am I overthinking it?
