Swaddle sleep options.... Can I just use half the swaddle?

Hi,

My 11 week old doesn't sleep unless swaddled but I'm worried about her hips. We originally had these swaddle blankets (pack of three) but now she's a bit bigger I'm worried the bottom half is too tight and not allowing her hips to sit naturally. So I bought her the more expensive single swaddle but sadly she doesn't seem to like it; I've only tried two nights but she's fidgety most of the night and waking a lot more than she normally does in her usual blankets which is very frustrating.
My husband suggested using the old blankets without the bottom bit, so placing her over it, not in it and just using the arms of you see what I mean.
Does anyone know if this is safe to do? Or should I just carry on with the new one and hope she gets used to it? I suppose it is different for her and has only been 2 nights?
Thanks in advance

We used both of those types of swaddle blankets. When it was warm we used to only swaddle the top half with the first kind. You can also get the first one in a large size that has a much bigger pouch at the bottom. I think summer infant make them.

Good idea, that's exactly what I'd do. I only ever swaddled around shoulders and arms - leaving hips free movement.
