ive had probs sleeping for a long time (as you may have noticed ) but dd was always very good. however im now surviving on about an hour every morning. she used to sleep from about ten until 9, have a bottle and sleep again until dinnertime. now she will go to bed about 10pm and at 4am ish she starts grumbling...not crying but grumbling. i listen for a while and when i establish she isnt going to stop i pick her up and settle her..she doesnt fall asleep in my arms but she settles and i put her back down. on and off the grumbling continues until 7ish when i decide to give her a bottle. then she grumbles again so i put her in my bed about 9am as its the only way to get her calm...i know im probably making a rod for my own back doing this but im fresh out of ideas...my son was such a good sleeper..ive never had this before. she will sleep in my bed until about 11 which is great for her but i lie there half awake scared i will roll on her. shes nearly 9 months old now...a reasonable eater and going up the chart on a low but steady line..shes always been small. she wont eat a solid for breakfast at all and still has four bottles a day, 7 ounces. what am i doing wrong! i may have posted on her eating habits before (my memory fails me) but the sleep thing has just been going on a few weeks now getting worse every night it seems. could it be teething, feeding or what...? sorry for wittering on...not thinking straight.

Not atall - I was just racking my brain trying to think of some excellent advice for you, but none seems to be surfacing, sorry!! Just feel terribly sorry for you, how can you survive on so little sleep? Sorry again, that isnt much help. She could def be teething though if I remember. How long has this gone on for?

It's a long time since mine were that small, nightowl. I would guess that she's hungry. Is it possible to give her solids at 7 instead of the bottle?

nightowl · 12/10/2004 00:46

i only just remembered i had actually posted this...wasnt sure if i was just thinking of posting it! thanks for replies..i have tried to give her solids for breakfast too but she just isnt interested in them until later on. its been going on for a few weeks id say slowly getting worse but time does fly...im not too sure when it actually started.

When is her last solid food in the evening?

nightowl · 12/10/2004 01:14

it varies really...i dont run by any routine i just feed her as she seems hungry but always give her a bottle before bed. it worked fine with ds but doesnt seem to be getting me anywhere with dd

nightowl, if I've read your post right, she seems to go for a long time between solid foods - evening meal to morning meal. Do you think she is filling up on milk and then not having room for solids? Does she eat fairly well in the evening?

nightowl · 12/10/2004 23:00

trouble is in the morning that when she wakes up i cant get a solid down her...the bottle is what makes her stop crying...otherwise she will just scream and push the spoon away. she does seem to eat well for the rest of the day though like i say there isnt any set routine.
