6 week old very sleepy in day

my 6 week old would sleep for 5 or 6 hours in the afternoon if I let him - no such luck at night (wakes every 2-3 hours for feed and then difficult to settle). I wake him to feed in the day but just can't get him to stay awake. Is he too sleepy? oes anyone have any tips on how to get him to stay awake in tghe day?

take his clothes off and a good tickle or just keep him moving about. My first ds liked to be tickled under the chin, and toes are always good (also the sole of their feet). I was a stickler for not letting my ds's sleep too much during the day. Still to this day I have to wake my boys otherwise they would sleep and sleep.

Er, my advice would be to thank your lucky stars!

He might wake every 2-3 hours in the night and then NEVER sleep in the day, which would be much worse ...

Seriously though, if it's a problem have you tried making sure he gets plenty of daylight during the day? I read some research (on Kellymom maybe?) to the effect that they sleep better at night if they spend time in daylight, especially in the early afternoon IIRC.
