Standing up in cot over and over and over again

DS is 13 months old and until now has been a fairy decent sleeper. He had a development delay and over the last couple of weeks has only just started crawling and pulling himself up to standing position.
The problem is that since he’s learnt this, he just will not lie down. Night sleep is now terrible - I’m constantly going in his room to lie him down but it’s pretty much pointless because he stands straight back up, or sits up and stays sat up. If I leave him to it he eventually cries. As an example, this morning he had a 20 minute cat nap in the car and so far this afternoon is completely refusing to nap and just repeatedly stands in his cot. He is teething which probably isn’t helping but this is driving me mad.
I’ve tried rocking him to sleep but he just wriggles away from me. Last night I tried to put him in bed with us but he just sits up and rolls around. What do I do?

Can you put him in a sleeping bag to try to restrict this behaviour and observe ( in case he tries to stand up with it on)?

@LouiseTrees unfortunately he already has a sleeping bag on at night and still manages to stand :(

Mine did this for a week or two after figuring out how to stand - it’s still exciting for now but will become normal and boring eventually. I would wait it out. Hang in there.

Ugh same here. I have found what usually (but not always) works is laying them back down and then lying on the floor at the same level and patting etc through the cot bars so they are less likely to get back up.

Following with interest.
DS is 13 months with delays and has just learned to sit up on his own, had a few naps where I’ve had to lie him back down but then he learned to lie himself down a couple of days later and so I just left him to it for naps and bedtime and he eventually wears himself out and goes to sleep (He doesn’t cry). It hasn’t affected his night sleep yet (he rarely wakes up once asleep).
I’m just waiting for the next level to come where he starts standing up!!! Dreading it.
Keen to hear some Perspectives from people who have been through it.
