Advice needed on bedding! Is there a recommended age to stop using grobags?

Hi I have 15 month old DS who from the age of about 3 months has always slept (brilliantly) in grobags of varying size and thickness. He still does. I have used them for both daytime naps and night time. But should I be thinking about geting a proper duvet/pillow for his cot bed now? No real concerns about continuing with grobags as he sleeps so well, just a comment from a colleague has prompted the question!

My dd slept in them until she was nearly 3 with no problems. If it ain't broke ......!

I have just moved my ds across from grobags to a duvet at 2.5 ... he would probably have quite happily stayed in them for a lot longer but he keeps climbing out of bed and I figured he was more likely to fall over if he was still in a bag.

maybe before they go into a bed and might need to go to the loo in hte middle of the night as you don't really want to be up helping them in and out of it! DS had a bag until he was 2 and then I gave him a duvet in preparation for his move to a bed, which he loved as well as he is like mummy and daddy.

DS1 I stopped just under 2 about a month after he went into the bed as I was so excited about him being in a big boy bed!

However, DS 2 is now 2.7 and I am keeping him in his for as long as possible as I just know he will be one for getting up and running around in the middle of the night or at stupid o'clock in the morning! As Halster said "if it ain't broke....!"

Saying that he does have a pillow now which he loves!

DS1 stayed in his grobag until he could take it off himself about 2.8 then it was a duvet

my 4 year old dd would still be in grobag now if she hadn't learnt how to vault out of the cot at 2.5! I then decided it was too dangerous - i would rather she could get out safely with legs free and bars off the side of the cot! I think they are fine as long as in cot, could be difficult in proper bed. I gave dd a duvet for a week before taking the sides off the cot.

I think the biggest grobag is age 5. I would quite like one for myself in wintertime!
