Hi all as the title suggests my LO who is 17 months takes over an hour to fall asleep at night. His day looks like this:
Wakes around 6ish
Has some milk
Breakfast around 7.30/8
Snack 10
Lunch 11.30/12
Nap 1-3
Dinner 4/5ish
Bath 7.30/6.45ish
Usually in his cot for 7 but he doesn’t fall asleep until 8ish - he’s then waking ah 6ish so only sleeping around 10hours. This has been going on for about a week now. He doesn’t protest or scream - just rolls around his cot. I’m not sure if being on lock down he’s just not burning off enough energy (he’s very very active)! He used to sleep 11-12 hours at night. He always seems tired by 11ish but then perks up after lunch. Anyone been through something similar? Do I need to change my routine?

My 17 month old runs to exactly the same schedule and takes about 45 mins to fall asleep.

I don't think there are any issues tbh as my LO is sleeping soundly through the night and napping during the day.

I'm trying to make sure she eats well at dinner as she's a bit fussy when it comes to food/eating.

I've always thought that as long as she isn't upset at bedtime she's just self soothing and perhaps not quite ready to sleep yet.

Sorry not to have any other suggestions!

Thank you! It just seems odd because a week ago he would fall asleep quickly and would have 11-12 hours of sleep....I think if I put him down for a nap at 11am he would sleep as he’s quite tired by then. But as I said after lunch he does perk up. But I wondered if he should be going down 12.30ish for 2 hours instead?

My 19 month old wakes around 6/6:30am and would be very overtired if she didn't nap until 1pm. I find she gets tired 4 hours ish after waking, so usually naps around 11am-1pm.
I also find she doesn't get tired for bed until 6 hours + of being awake after her nap.
If my DD woke at 3pm she wouldn't go to sleep until at least 9pm.
I'm no expert by any means and I know all kids are different but I thought most routines toddlers are awake for a shorter period of time in the morning, then awake longer in the afternoon after their nap.

Maybe let him sleep when he's tired at 11am and have lunch after that and see how he gets on?
It's all trial and error isn't it 😅

Yes definitely - thank you for all your replies! I always thought you shouldn’t exceed 4-5 hours after last nap and asleep for the night so I’ve always pushed him in the morning - but maybe since we’re on lockdown he can go longer as he’s not burning the energy he used to?!

How are you getting on OP?
I definitely thinking not burning as much energy during lockdown has played a part with my little one.
I read somewhere previously bed time is 5 hours + from nap times for toddlers, trying to find where I read that.
