sleep deprivation - my child not me - does anybody else suffer

It is a bit of leading a horse to water. DS is 2.5 and now in a bed and will happily go to bed at 7ish and sleep until 6ish the next morning, he will stay in bed until 7ish - which is great, but he needs more sleep. He gets really tetchy and grotty, but he won't nap during the day or just sleep longer in the morning. I can seem to reason with him that it would be better if he slept longer and putting him to bed earlier mainly ends in him waking earlier. This can't be a phase as he has done this on and off since he was born - or do I just have a maniac for a son who doesn't want to stop going? should I be worried?

I reckon he will grow out of it in a bit. You could try letting him zone out in front of the TV for a bit after lunch, or whenever is convenient for you. He might just need a bit of "quiet time" to recharge his batteries. It's a pain when they stop sleeping, isn't it!!!
