When did your baby drop from 2 naps to 1?

DS is 11 months old and has always been a reasonably good sleeper. From about 7-8 months old he’s had two naps in the day each lasting around 1.5 hours, sometimes a little less. Lately it’s like he’s not tired enough for the two naps. Yesterday he napped for 5 mins in the morning before waking up ready to play and had 2 hours in the afternoon instead. Today he’s had just over an hour this morning but this afternoon hasn’t wanted to sleep. He doesn’t seem upset or overtired, just lies in his cot wide awake and no signs of sleep. Is 11 months too young to drop to one nap a day? I know every baby is different but I’ve read the average is 15 months! He sleeps well at night, usually between 11-12 hours straight unless unwell or teething (which seems to be a lot of the time lately). He has more teeth coming through at the moment so could this be why he’s not napping as much or could he just be ready for one instead of two? When did your LO drop from two to one nap?

Mine was about 10 months. I just ignored what I’d read about it being 12-15 months and went with what she was doing. Worked out fine for us

Mine was very late and didn't drop down to one until about 18 months and still often had a 15 minute power nap on the way out somewhere for a few weeks.
I'd maybe try capping the morning nap to half an hour or so and see what happens?
However I think they can often go a few days or a week or so being awkward with naps for no apparent reason and then revert back so aren't actually ready to drop them yet.

I think about 10/11 months, not long after she started nursery.

I have an 11 month old and haven't let him nap in the morning for two weeks now.

He was doing 90 mins in the morning and then 30 mins at lunch and exhausted all afternoon. Wasn't fun for either of us!

So I keep him going longer and put him down at 11.30 and he easily sleeps 2-2.5 hours. He's also now sleeping through the night!

I go back to work in 4 weeks so this is a godsend, am starting to feel human again...

My DD still had 2 naps a day up until 15 months and has always slept through. She's 5.5 now and would still have a nap if I let her and easily sleeps 12 hours a night. She likes her sleep!

6 months, stopped napping at 2

My DD1 dropped to one nap at 11 months. 3 years old now and still takes that nap daily!

14 months on the nose. It was just such a struggle fitting in her naps, we kinda just went cold turkey and pushed through until she got used to it. Pushed her to 11:30/12 and then let her sleep. Had two weeks of sleep being all over the place and early wake ups but it seems to suit her now. Not that it's made her sleep at night any better!

Mine was around 14 months...he used to have a morning and afternoon nap but started to copy his little mates at nursery when they went for one longer nap around lunch. He's 17 months old now and the routine has stuck

Thanks everyone, wow such different answers. After DS’s one nap yesterday morning he had an early night last night and slept through but has ended up very miserable and overtired today! It’s been hard getting him to nap today too, so I think he might just be going through a phase and still need the two naps for now. I’m going to take his lead and see how we go...
