Hi.
Just that really. My 17 month old can sleep till 6. He will do this for a week then for about 3 weeks he wakes anytime between 5 and 530. He won't go back to sleep. I have tried ignoring him but he just gets louder I have tried feeding him that does nothing I have gone in there and said night time every 5 mins until 6 nothing works. What does anyone else do? Also does anyone else's baby wake an hour earlyer for a couple of weeks then a week of 6am i dunno why this happens. Help! Thanks x

I’m in the 5am club too. We just get up.

MumofTinies · 16/02/2020 08:35

Nice tea or coffee. I used to get so stressed about DS2 getting up at that time, but I have found acceptance has made me much happier. I alternate lie ins with DH if that is something you could do?
At 2 1/2 DS now gets up at 5.30-6AM and I've definately become an early to bed, early to rise kind of person Grin

Thankyou so much for all your responses. Today he has terrible naps as been put and about so I expect he will wake at 5. I think we will take it in turns to get up and try and accept it. I will leave him in there as long as i can and maybe sit by his cot if needed. I don't no if he would understand a gro clock yet? I have one though

We are up at 5am too! My 8 month old loves it. So I take her down stairs and get up to with the news. Bring on the lighter mornings!

I put LO in bed with me. On the weekend she can then sleep for an extra 3 hours.

SnowWhite26 · 18/02/2020 05:58

Freeze pop that's great. Mine would just think it was party time. I no i should think myself lucky he goes to bed at 7 and generally sleeps through till 5-6 but it's hard lol

Same here! He’s always been an early riser but did start sleeping through until 6 or even 7 recently! But the last week we’ve been back to 5.20 or thereabouts pretty much every morning. We had been ignoring him but he’s started doing a poo as soon as he wakes up and it’s made his poor bottom really sore.

My 10 year old still gets up early. Often before six. Occasionally at 4. It's a very rare day if he sleeps beyond 6.30.

You get used to it🥱

dancemom · 18/02/2020 06:48

Try the wake to sleep method

hiredandsqueak · 18/02/2020 06:56

I would have got up with mine because once awake I can't go back to sleep. My dd though gives dgs a book and goes back to bed and he quite happily looks at that or goes back to sleep until 7am. I tell dd she doesn't appreciate how good she has got it though.

I try to leave my (19 month old) until 6 then take them down. I’ve been moving the afternoon nap back a bit and slightly shortening then bed at 7. I did this with the older two and they aren’t up yet. Fingers crossed this works.

mynameisntlouise · 18/02/2020 07:23

My 21 month old usually wakes around 6am but it can be anywhere from 5am, and very occasionally earlier and won't go back to sleep so we just get up with him and take it in turns. I'm just hoping he'll grow out of it, or eventually when he's in a toddler bed learn to just entertain himself, it's hard atm as he's stuck in his cot.

He mostly sleeps through from 7-8pm ish and has one long nap over lunch time.

Gobacktosleep · 10/03/2020 07:15

@SnowWhite26 Just wondered how you are getting on and if there’s been any improvement and if you’ve found a routine that helps? My 16.5 month old is exactly the same - has been for a year! He even does the one week of 6am starts every now and then, and back to 5ish Sad

SnowWhite26 · 10/03/2020 22:35

Hi gobacktosleep. No pattern really. Have tried all different routines. If he doesnt vat nap in morning he is just so tired he will go for a nap 11.30-12 It depends what wevare doing as i have a 4 year old. Tbh i think that it doesn't make much difference when or how long he sleeps just effects how moody he is towards end of the day if he hasnt napped enough. I have tried reducing his clothing to pjs vest and 2.5 tog and heating coming on at 5. But he woke at 530 whichvwas a slight improvement yesterday and 5 today. We have to get him out quick as he has started to disturb his sister as they share. Its all stressful x
