ok, I know I am being unreasonable, after all in the past couple of months he has dropped his dummy, his swaddle and his night feeds, so now he is sleeping from 7 - 6am, whereas before he would wake up either 2-hourly, or at 4am and be awake for the day.

I am such a pushy mum...

because I feel this is the last hurdle.... he wakes every morning at 5.30 - 6am. All I want is ideas if anyone has managed to get their lo to sleep later in the morning.

I have tried letting him resettle, but he doesnt, and I tried feeding then resettling but that doesnt work. He is ready to play....

btw he is 7 months old. any ideas I can try before I go back to work again?

How many naps does he have?

ratfly · 29/08/2007 09:04

He usually naps 2 1/2 - 3 hours after he has woken up. He used to nap for about 1 1/2 hours, but since he has been unswaddled it is usually 45 mins to 1 hour instead..

So... something like...
wake at 6, sleep 9 - 10
nap at 12.30, wake at 1.30
nap 4.30 - 5
bed at 7.15

Hate to say this, but his sleeping sounds really good. I am afraid early wakings are part of the territory. DD1 used to wake at 5 - but stopped the day before I went back to work, but then started again every summer.

Thye do gwor out it, so just hang in there - take it in turns with day to get up.

my ds is nearly 10 mo and is waking at about 5am at the moment, having been sleeping til 7am for ages.No idea why but its v annoying..
have tried changing naps and even meal patterns but to no avail.
Figure i just have to go to bed earlier!

How dark is the room? Unless you block out every chink of light, babies can tell that at 6am is lighter. I have blackour roller blind, full length blackout-lined curtains, and DH stuck black tape across all the gaps at the top of the curtain rail.
