11 week old wide awake and laughing at 3am !!

My DD is 11 weeks old and last feed of the evening is around 10ish. If she wakes crying, I always feed her during the night - most nights this is around 4-5am.

However this morning she woke me at 3am (she is in her own room) by laughing and cooing for ages. She was very loud and animated but was quite happy, just wide awake I think I tried to ignore it, but in the end fed her (even though she wasn't crying for food) just so I could go back to sleep . After her feed I put her down and she went back to sleep straight away.

Did she wake for food do you think and was just good natured about asking for it or should I just have settled her back down and not fed until she wanted it (although I probably would have been up for the rest of the night )?

BTW I am FF and she took about 4oz (normally has a 6oz feed)

I think this is normal. My ds (4 months) sometimes wakes up for a 'chat' in the night, or he wakes for a feed, then when I put him back in the cot afterwards he's wide awake and talkative. He gets himself back to sleep if I leave him. I normally stay in his room until he is asleep (in a chair he can't see from the cot. If I went back to bed while he was awake, the noises would carry through on the monitor and wake dh up as well. No point in all three of us being awake). It only happens occasionally, not all the time (thank goodness!) The difficult thing is not laughing, because the noises ds makes are so cute and he sounds so happy and content!

It was quite sweet even if it was 3am - if she does it again I may just let her get on with it....I don't need to stay in the room usually, she's very good at settling herslf - she was particularly noisy last night though!
