Baby awake hours at night - is it sleep regression?

Hello all, just need some advice. DS (dear son) (19 weeks old) has never been a great sleeper but before last week we had decent night sleeps, he would usually wake up twice for a feed (he is EBF) and then straight back asleep. Since last week when he wakes up for the 2am feed he won't go back to sleep until 5am. He seems rested, in a very good mood and he wants to play. I am loosing my mind and I don't know what to do anymore! I believe we do everything by the book, he goes to bed at 7pm with no fuss after bath, massage and feed. He has 2 naps of 1-1.30h morning and early afternoon plus a short one around 5pm. I thought it was sleep regression but then I read that it's more common for babies to wake up often because they don't know how to go back to sleep rather than staying awake for hours partying. Please help! Thank you very much

DD does this when she learns a new skill. Can you leave him in his cot to amuse himself while you stick earplugs in and ignore? Keep lights off etc so the nighttime message is reinforced.
