2yo DS still screaming at 10pm refusing to go to bed

Hi,

Our 2.5yo DS used to go to bed happily and stay in his bed until after 7pm. We went on holiday a couple of weeks ago during the heatwave and he abandoned his sleep bag in favour of a duvet. When we got back we took the side down from his cot. Since then, our nights have got worse and worse and worse. If started with extended delay tactics (requests for water, new nappy, different pillow, lights on etc), and these have got worse and worse as well as him waking up through the night and starting the day at 0545. We have taken the light bulb out of his ceiling light (he’d turn it on at 10pm, 5am etc), tried to shorten daytime nap. We were being quite gentle and indulgent but it just seems to be repaid with less sleep. I have an autistic 4yo who really needs his sleep and an 8 month old. We live in a small house and the nightly screaming (and I mean SCREAMING tantrums) are horrendous. He has also been having more tantrums during the day. He has been crying now for over three hours. He did sleep for fifteen minutes and was sobbing in his sleep. What on Earth do we do? Help.

I don't have any advice but I share your pain. DS has just turned 3 and he will not go to sleep. Bumping in the hope someone has some suggestions, I'm hoping it's just a phase and this too will pass...

Maybe put the sides back on his cot..I left them on as long as poss! Once they're off the sleep can go to pot..there's no rush.
