Extreme rocking to sleep is doing me in! Help!

LO is 6months. Has always needed movement to sleep. Occasionally falls asleep on breast but only if overtired + hungry. Though in the middle of the night, will feed and fall back to sleep.

But for naps and bedtime, needs extreme movement. I wouldn't mind rocking but this is like a step aerobics class from hell. I'm literally jumping from side to side around the room for minimum 15 mins, often more. Absolutely killing me.

Days naps were all in the carry cot attachment to her pram but now that's not working as she's grown out of it.

All these posts about gentle rocking and putting down drowsy, feel like we are just such a world away from that. I honestly don't know how to move on from this. Don't want to do CIO. But she just needs such extreme movement, I'm left dripping in sweat. If I slow down she screams. Help! What do I do to help her settle?

I used to giggle the pram or sit on the sofa and sort of pat ds up and down on his bum.

I wouldn't do extreme work out rocking,no way!

**jiggle not giggle

What about one of those automatic rocking baby chairs?

2 of mine were like this! Required massive around the room swooshing to even get drowsy-I was often drilling with sweat and a suffering with a bad back.

I resorted to hard rocking the cot mattress from the bottom end.

I feel your pain, op!

Is there a Fisher Price cradle swing anywhere near you on eBay? The side to side motion of that on maximum (not the back to front motion) worked for me. Though you will need lots of batteries or (we ended up doing this) wiring it in to the mains.

No advice but I could literally write the same post. If it’s a nap, I shove dd in the sling and go for a walk, that always does the trick. Night time dh has to do it as my arms get tired

I had to do this when baby was about 5 months but they did grow out of it and now I can get away with just gentle rocking in a chair. You will get through this!

No advice op with first DC I ended up doing vigorous squats as I thought I might as well get my workout in since he needed constant movement as it was either that or flinging myself around the room dancing/doing twirls as I was that desperate for some time to myself 😂
He refused naps all together at barely one.

With DC2 very very vigorous rocking in the snuzpod helped (although the snuzpod did suffer for it after a couple of months).

Only upside is they do grow out of it eventually!
