Co-sleeping/BS suckling & dribbling all night?!

Hi all. This is my first message on a forum as it’s the first issue I’ve had which I haven’t found an existing chat about 🙈

My 6 month old tends to suckle at my breast a lot of the night; I honestly couldn’t tell you how much as I sleep through it & usually just wake every few hours to switch sides. This is all fine for me at the moment although I do try to detach him whenever he seems very sleepy (sometimes works sometimes not), however, about half the time when I wake up to switch sides there is a big milky wet patch under his head! It seems that he is suckling and the milk is just running out of his mouth?! It’s not coming from his nose as there’s no crust & he usually has a really good mouth/nipple seal but I suppose at night when we’re both sleeping then his mouth is more relaxed??

I wonder if anyone else experiences the same? It’s not a huge concern for me but a bit annoying that he’s wasting good milk 🙈 and I do worry that he may get an ear infection as sometimes his head/hair is pretty wet when I wake up.

Should I be concerned?
