I've finally got my son (20 months) more or less sleeping through. The problem is now he starts waking up at 4 am! He usually goes back to sleep fairly easily with cuddles from my partner (I'm still bfeeding so I lie low) but it means up & down , in and out til he finally wakes for the day at 6. Has anyone seen their little one stop doing this & start sleeping longer full cycles? Leaving him to cry for any time at all at this hour doesn't help at all, btw. Nor does bringing him in with us because then he wakes up earlier and earlier & feeds endlessly. Any tips or reassurances? Thanks!

how about sympathy?!
we're in a similar boat as our 11month old has woken consistently at 5am for what seems like years. and now she's started nursery its a 4.30am start. i agree, its torture doing controlled crying at 4 in the morning! we try but it just doesn't work.... bringing her in settles her for about 20mins and then its down to the business of play... i'm hoping she'll grow out of it.
hope someone has some tips!

Well we seem to have improvements here - at least we got him to sleep til 5 today. We had to be absolutely firm though and stop bringing him in with us & no milk til the night is definitively over! After months of waking at 3.30 this is a huge step . I am not going to say he's 'sleeping thru the night' thoug - that's sure to curse us...

i've got nothing - sorry. the EARLY rises sound really tough. lot's of sympathy though.
i'm not convinced that the night is 'definitely over' at 5am though ..

anyway, here is a bit of fun that we started for sleep deprived parents sleepisfortheweak.wordpress.com/
