Hi ladies,
My DS is 3 mo and more and more just will not sleep/nap!!

He's a bit of a velcro baby and has never slept anywhere other than on me or in his sling, but up until this week he would happily sleep a good few hours during the day in the sling if I put him in it and walked.
However since this week the most he's slept in it is about 45 mins and other than that he'll only doze off if I feed him and he has a boob in his mouth.

We co-sleep at night, and although he's never slept through (this doesn't majorly bother me at his age) the last few nights he's literally woken up every 1.5 hours and I feel like now he can't even go to sleep at night without my boob in his mouth and I'm sure is asleep most of the night attached to me!!

We have tried him in his cot but he just gets hysterical (hence the co-sleeping) and I don't want to consider any type of sleep training yet but his lack of napping in the day is clearly now impacting his sleep at night and by the evening is clearly exhausted but fights sleep like a trooper and just becomes inconsolable!

I'm panicking a bit about sleep associations but at the same time I really don't want to become obsessed with regimented routines as this is just not me and I know I would struggle! Anyone else in a similar boat?!

Hi prim... I could have written this post. Infact I did something similar off the back of a flat chewing thread- see "3.5 month old keeps waking up chewing his hands?"
Mines 3 months, started waking every 2 hours (or even hourly after 2am) and will not nap more than 30 mins unless on me or in sling. It's either growth spurt so feeding more (I'm EBF), teething or maybe even too warm with these nicer nights?! Anyway im praying it will pass. I've heard they can consolidate longer day time naps when they are a bit older so 30 mins is normal at this age.. and as for night sleep I hope Lord only knows! X

Thanks for your reply Hannah!

Glad to know I'm not the only one!! DS has also started chewing his hands alot and is super dribbly so starting to wonder if it's the onset of teething?? Though could also be a growth spurt at this age too??

He's been cluster feeding loads the past few evenings too (he's EBF) and has been pretty unsettled in general really.

I always thought 12 weeks was a turning point but the more I've read - there's so much going on at the 3 month mark (growth spurt, developmental leap, possible teething) that it would seem we're not out the woods yet!!

He has has 12 week jabs next week so that'll be more fun and games!!

Yes I had 12 weeks in my head as a turning point for a new baby.... but convinced it's more like 13+ ... that is until 4 month starts when it apparently all goes down hill again?! Mine is also v dribly and she's STUFFING her fists in her mouth but I wasn't sure if she had just 'found her hands'. I think this is just a stormy combination of a lot of things (not that it makes it any better!)
12 week jabs were better for us than 8 weeks so you should be ok fingers crossed 😊
