Any one elses 10m old waking up to play?

DD is 10m and as well as having started to mess with her food she has also started to wake in the night to play. She has never really slept though which didn't bother me as I would just bf her and she would drop back off. Recently she has her milk then wakes as soon as I put her down and wants to play - 2 hours last night

Is this a symptom of her age or something else do you think?

TIA

Good luck. We did this at 4 months. DD's pediatrician told us that at 4 months, she doesn't need night feeds and is waking up to feed out of habit only.

Remember - Don't Give In. If you give in and feed him in the night from now on, the message he will get is "If I cry long enough, I get what I want".

Well I did give him a 2oz feed at 5.30 this morning - I thought that he was probably genuinely hungry by then. He wasnt really crying either, just having a whinge, then falling asleep for a few mins, feom 4.00 this morning. Well, 4 is way too early to feed him in my books....

I am counting the oz today, and if he goes over 20 in the daytime, he won't get a 5am feed tonight.

It feels a bit harsh cutting out BOTH night feeds at once, but he is eating 3 full meals a day, so I know he doesnt need them, and it's just habit.

wish me luck

Can you believe that last night he slept from 7 - 6.30 without waking up! He had a couple of little whinges, but settled himself within 5 mins!!!!

So, it shows he CAN do it, and that he DOESNT need those feeds!!

Unfortunately, I was woken up at 3am by the neighbours coming in from clubbing. - not at them coming in late and noisy, but at their going out when we can't!!

Got our own back by playing Jimi Hendrix rather loud at 7am. Lol.

So last night he woke at 3 and I fed him 3oz in 4 oz water, after which he fell asleep til 7ish. I did a little bit off cc, but he was getting worse, so I fed him.

Should I have fed him? It was 8 hours since his last feed, but we are meant to be stopping the night feeds....

and DaddyJ - you are so right - cc is twice as hard at night, especially as I am doing it alone cos dh has work....

Any advice? Was I bad?

CoteDAzur · 20/08/2007 20:15

ratfly - I think it's a mistake to feed him even diluted amounts of milk at night. At one point we were giving DD just water and still she woke up for the water. The only thing that works is to Stop All Night Feeds.

If I may, I will also give you a bit of advice on "did cc, but he was getting worse, so fed him" - Now and in the future, when you say "No" to something, don't ever give in just because he cries. They learn the lesson very quickly that a no can be changed to a yes if he cries long enough.

Good luck for tonight

Thanks cote
so tonight I should just do the cc when he wakes at night?
I guess he is getting enough milk and other babies manage to go through without a feed, so he should be ok....

it is sooo hard in the middle of the night, isn't it, to think staight!
