My lo has 3 naps a day - 45 mins to an hour and naturally fell into this routine from v young and from sleep point of view is v easy baby. However, it's awkward when we're out and about, at his classes etc,as he always ends up screaming if we're out longer than 2 hrs and he doesn't like napping in his buggy as is used to darkened room. I thought by now that he would start to be awake for longer periods. Have tried extending awake periods gradually but he gets very upset/agitated. Does anyone know if this will change as he gets a bit older (and when??), or is the solution to try to 'train' him, to say, have 2 naps a day? Any advice welcome.

hi dragonfruit

At six months he could really go with having 2 naps a day, they normally at that age need one around 3 to 4 hours after being up and then again in the afternoon around 4 ish. You may want to make the afternoon one shorter so that they go down well at night for you.

I think you maybe want to work on the sleeping elsewhere other than his bedroom otherwise you are going to be really restricted. The push chair, car seat maybe. If a child is tired enough they will sleep.
