Alexa Lullabies to aid sleep

Hi,
I've created a skill for Amazon Alexa devices which plays Lullabies to help children fall asleep. It has three Lullabies, one of which lasts for 2 hours. If need be the Lullabies can be set to continually loop.

It's called Baby Bedtime Lullabies and can be accessed/enabled at www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0764L3T5F?tag=mumsnetforum-21

It's in the "Kids" category of the Alexa skill store so you do need to enable kids skills in the Alexa app (Settings/Alexa Account/Kids skills) to use it.

Hope somebody finds it useful, any questions please ask.

( Positive review comments in the Alexa skill store are appreciated Smile )

Hi,

Both of those phrases work since having used “play sleepy lullabies skill” but they didn’t work prior to it. I don’t know if using “skill” in the phrase unlocks it somehow so it then remembers it for future (almost like having to do coding!)

Ive attached a picture of what played when we asked to play sleepy lullabies prior to asking for “open sleepy lullabies skill”.

Having had an Alexa device for less than a year I have found it to be quite glitchy and at times asking for certain songs, albums or radio stations, Alexa will go off piste and play everything other than what you have asked for.

I played sleepy lullabies tonight and it worked perfectly (both baby and me fell asleep 🤣)

Someone just tried to send me a private message (to my "old" account y0rkiebar). Unfortunately that account was closed by Mumsnet for some reason and so I can't access the messages. Please resend to this user (knownentity) if it's about my Alexa lullabies skill.

Thanks.

So I'm having issues enabling the "premium pack" to get looping (kinda sad it's not for free like the old skill, but I get it) - Alexa is telling me to check my voice purchasing settings, but everything is turned on. Can you help?

Sorry to hear that. You've got voice purchasing enabled in the Aleax app ? Settings->Account Settings->Voice Purchasing
Another failure reason could be that you don't have a valid payment method associated with your Amazon account.

If all the above is good, then see if you can buy the pack directly from the Amazon website -> https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0C2HV6ZY3?ref=skillrw_isp_dplnk
If you do this, then make sure you make the purchase from the same Amazon account that your Alexa device is registered to, otherwise Alexa won't know you've made the purchase.

This has been a Godsend! Thank you so much for this. The fourth one in particular has our now two and a half year old instantly relaxed and in sleep mode. Please, please can you let me know what the fourth piece (on loop) is called, in case for whatever reason we ever lose access to this skill. Also it would be great to be able to access it from a non-Alexa device, for example at grandparents' house. Thank you! :-)

The sleepy lullaby skill is an absolute godsend for getting my little boy to sleep… every night without fail I have it playing for him and after 9 months i now need it to fall asleep too haha!

the only thing I do wish though is that it would play for longer as it stops every 2 hours or so which then causes baby to wake up which is a nuisance

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback and good to hear it helps your son to sleep.
You can enable looping which will play the lullabies continually until you stop them. However this is a premium feature which has a (small) monthly subscription amount.
Some people have complained about charging for looping but the hard facts are that it was costing me £££ each month for all of the lullaby streaming. Without any income source from the skill then I would have no alternative other than to take it down. I chose to charge for looping as this uses more data and so costs me more.
If you want to try looping then say "Alexa, loop on" when the lullabies are playing, it will give you a free day trial.

Thanks.

Can this be used on a Google Nest device? I want to get rid of our Echo but I need the lullabies! Thanks!
