Help! 8 week old wriggling in sleep, overtired in day...

My 8 week old girl sleeps fairly well - goes down around 8/830 until dream feed at 11. It's just that from around 2am I hear her wriggling from side to side, looking for her thumb, half awake. This goes on for hours!

She then is exhausted the next day, which ends with a crying fit at 6-7pm.

Is she hungry? She never cries....just moans and whimpers a bit.

Should I wake her to feed? I usually give in around 4/5 and feed her. What could cause this and what should I do????

I should add that she wriggles strongly, it's noisy and she climbs out of her sheet and blanket up the moses basket.

Is it that she's not sleeping deeply enough? I'm hardly sleeping from listening to this - can I do anything about this?

Would you consider swaddling her?

I've tried this but she hates it - she always sleeps with hands above head or arms outstretched - right from being newborn - and even when we try and wrap her up in a baby towel for a bath she sneaks her hands out within seconds! She puts them up to her face/tries to find her thumb. She screamed the house down when we tried, when she was really little. Maybe worth another go??

Maybe swaddling might be worth another go? My LO initially hated it, and resisted our best efforts. We had another go at 11 weeks, as she is a real wriggly waver. My LO has taken to it now, and it really seems to help. Goos luck!

gerbo my ds sometimes does this (he's 9 weeks) if he's partially woken up during a feed. I just pick him up and sit in dark/silence about 20 muns - he goes right under again. zzzzzzzzz
