HELP!! 8 wk old - 6pm onwards crying, then falls asleep exhausted...

Help! My 8 wk old daughter has a feed around 4 and is fine until my husband comes home at 6. She has started crying from 6pm, through her bath and massage and by the time it comes to feed her at 7 she is exhausted and practically asleep. We've tried Infacol - doesn't make any difference. She's breastfed so don't think it's wind. She then takes ages to get to sleep - usually goes down arojnd 8.30. Any tips? She's a calm placid baby by nature so why is she crying?!

When DS2 was little he used to cluster feed from about 5:30pm - approx 8:30. Can't remember how long it went on for, but I do know that he started sleeping through at around 9 weeks and i think it was due to this feeding pattern.

Can you try feeding her earlier around 6 and putting her down to sleep abit earlier??

Could be that she is tired and hungry at 6 and by the time she gets to 7 is too tired to eat and also hungry, then overtired etc and one big vicious circle which sends her over the edge. Might be worth a try.

I'd do bath and massage at 5pm, then offer feed at 6pm, bet she'll be asleep by 7, aka maddison.

what happens at 6? are you trying to put her to bed at 6? then the crying starts? or are you trying to feed her up and she's cryng?

I'd try feeding her ... she's probably hungry. Dd used to feed constantly between 6 and 10pm - cluster feeding in the evening is really common.

Thanks for your messgaes.....will try both - cluster feeding and moving everything forward a bit - bath at 530 maybe instead of 630.......thanks for the advice!

just to add my bit - mine did this too. Very common, I'm led to believe. It's the baby witching hour. try feedin more in this time - eventually I just fed from 6 til 8, then he slept.
Good luck. It WILL get better!!!

My 8 week old does the same - he is tired and wants to go to bed basically. Sounds like she is getting overtired then struggling to sleep. I would bring bedtime forward a bit and have her tucked up by 6.30!

Colic

Nothing worked for us except Colief and when we got it, it was miraculous. Infacol was useless.

Have a go, it can't hurt, you can buy it over the counter a Tesco's tonight and then get a prescription if it works...and you have my sympathies. Good luck

DS was breast fed so I would put a drop on his tongue before feeding.

But just after reading, you say she's asleep by 8? DS would scream till 1 am so maybe it's not colic or a mild form. Try colief anyway if all else fails; crying to 2 hours is still pretty rough
