my 2 yr old ds will not sleep through the night
! at 2 I think it is quite acceptable to expect this. he wakes 4-5 times each night and is up again at 5.30am wanting to play! I am exhausted as I am pregnant with number 2 and really need some sleep! any else in the same situation or that can offer any advise? I dont know wht to do next?

Hi Pinklady, I am in exactly the same situation as you. DS is nearly 2 and has been a good sleeper for over a year, but he has started to wake up at 2am, 4am, 5am etc and messing around in his cot. He doesn't cry or anything but makes a LOT of noise before he goes back to sleep. He is then awake and raring to go again at 6/6.30am

I am exhausted as am 33wks pregnant this week and am now finding it difficult to sleep at the best of times!

I can't think what to do other than just let him get on with it and hope it soon stops.

Thanks for your reply, although it's nice to know I am not the only one in this situation I am very sorry that you are too. and at 33 weeks I can only imagine it being more difficult. It is so hard and as you there is nothing else I can do except llet him get on with it! good luck I hope by the time you have your new arrival youe DS will be sleeping better. although it really doesn't help the situation right now.

Ohhhh! Thank GOD I saw this!! My DS is 19 months and he has started to do this over the last week or so and it's just SHATTERING. I'm only 24 weeks preg, but still, I'm destroyed. I'm giving him extra milk to see if that will help him, ie he wont wake hungry if there is another full beaker in the cot with him too. He's an early riser but I'm not sure what to do about that. Am so glad (sorry!!) I'm not the only one out there!

I have also been giving milk before bed which has not helped at all I have tried a later bed time which also has not made any difference. I have tried and covered everything to help and nothing seems to be working. it's so hsrd. but nice to know it is not just us.

DS always has milk before bed,but I don't think he wakes because he is hungry . I can't think where he finds all the energy though as he just keeps going.

I don't think he needs me to get up to him in the night as he happily chatters, sings, plays etc and then goes back to sleep.... and I certainly don't want to turn it into a game!
